Where do I get GeoBuzz?
GeoBuzz is only available on the iPhone, iPod Touch, and Google Android (aka T-Mobile G1) based phones. If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, you can get it through the App Store. If you have a Google Android phone, you can get it through the Marketplace. Just seach for "GeoBuzz", download, and go.
What's up with the “secret” launch?
So we are calling this the secret launch because we want to take the time to see what you want. One of the great things about this app is the flexibility in which it can be used, you can make it your own. So we are putting this version out now and seeing how you early adopters use GeoBuzz and then adjusting it for the official release (later this summer) so it best meets what people want.
Why do you need my phone number?
To be honest, we don’t need your phone number, it is really for your convenience. Having the phone number entered allows you to sign up for SMS/text message updates to let you know when people comment on your buzzes. It also allows you to share your phone number when you reveal yourself to someone else. If you do not want to put your phone number in, that is fine, simply enter 555-555-5555 (or another number of all the same digit) and do not enable SMS updates.
And if you do choose to enter your phone number, don’t worry, we are NOT going to sell it to anyone.
How do I set up the text message updates?
On the iPhone/iPod Touch: Tap on the little info symbol in the upper left-hand corner of the main page,
On Android based phones: Press the Menu key and click Update Settings,
Then scroll down and choose On for the SMS updates and make sure that you enter in your correct phone number and service provider.
So “reveal” has some interesting connotations…
The reveal function is a pretty cool function, the big emphasis of GeoBuzz is that it is two-way communication and community oriented. We wanted to allow you to build on connections you make through buzzes by letting you Reveal your phone number to someone. How it works is you tap on the persons name under their buzz and choose Reveal, then that person will see your phone number on your buzzes and will be able to call or text you.
